What is the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Programme?
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Programme provides approximately 30% off the upfront cost of an eligible battery system through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). It is available to households and small businesses with no income test, and is applied as an upfront discount at the point of installation.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Why does the battery rebate reduce over time?
The federal battery rebate is calculated using Small-scale Technology Certificates, which step down every six months from May 2026 until 2030. Installing sooner locks in a higher discount — waiting costs you money each year.
